KDR at Virginia Tech emphasizes that academics be held as a higher priority than any obligation to the fraternity. We are encouraged to strive for academic excellence, which can be demonstrated by the fact that our average GPA is consistently higher than the all-male average at Virginia Tech. Additionally, we do not discourage and punish brothers who are not meeting their academic requirements, but instead we provide them with the support necessary to improve their standing.
Our brothers are studying a wide variety of majors so everyone has someone in the fraternity that they can go to for advice regarding school. Currently, we have multiple brothers studying architecture, business, engineering, biology, and international studies.
Scholarships are handed out by KDR at Virginia Tech, as well as by our national fraternity. Each year, our chapter awards an Honor Super Omnia Scholarship to a Virginia Tech underclassman who exhibits the qualities of a KDR gentleman. We also encourage our pledges to maintain good grades during their pledge semester by offering them a 100 dollar scholarship if they achieve a 3.0 or higher GPA. In addition, we are given the opportunity to apply for many scholarships offered by our national fraternity. It is clear that we are dedicated to maintaining high academic standards and rewarding those who embrace these ideals.
Honor Super Omnia Scholarship
Kappa Delta Rho was founded over 100 years ago in order to create a fraternal ogranization different from those which already existed. Our founders were successful in creating a lifelong brotherhood dedicated to fellowship, leadership, scholarship, and service. This scholarship is awarded each semester to the man who best exemplifies the qualities that describe a KDR gentlemen. The brothers at Virginia Tech all strive to rise above everyday pursuits and be of good character by placing honor before all things.
